I've spent years doing musical entertainment at campsites on the Costa Brava during the summer, and it's one of the formats I enjoy most precisely because the crowd changes every week: whole families, children, young people and grandparents, all sharing the same entertainment area.

Hours shaped by the campsite's rules

Campsites usually have a much tighter music schedule than a wedding or a private event, normally designed to respect the rest of the guests' downtime. I keep this very much in mind when planning the session, because the usable time is limited and it has to be used well.

Mixed crowd, several generations at once

At a campsite, small children, teenagers and adults all share the same space, just like at a first communion, but with the difference that they don't know each other beforehand. That means participative games (musical bingo, karaoke, dance contests) work even better, because they help break the ice between different families.

Recurring sessions, not a one-off event

Unlike a wedding, campsite entertainment usually repeats several nights a week throughout the whole season. That means varying the content so that guests staying several days don't get the same thing every time.

Outdoor space and weather resistance

Working outdoors in summer means taking humidity, dust and sometimes wind into account. The equipment I bring to campsites is designed to hold up well under that kind of continuous outdoor use.

Musical bingo, a staple at campsites

It's by far the activity I repeat most at campsites: it works just as well with 20 people as with 150, doesn't require people to know each other, and it's the perfect excuse for the whole family to sit together for a while.
